About Ipswich Unemployed Action
Ipswich Unemployed Action is a group of Unemployed people fighting for the rights of the Unemployed nationally although we specifically focus on the Ipswich area.

A good time to bash the unemployed
The BBC is to broadcast a Panorama programme about the young unemployed, tomorrow 26 April at 8.30 pm. It returns to a programme they filmed in 2007 about four young unemployed people in Swindon. "The programme first met them in 2007 and set them real-life Apprentice-style work challenges, with dramatic results. Since then the recession has struck, and hit Swindon - and their prospects - hard. How have they responded?" (BBC website)

Gordon Brown and the unemployed
"But they shouldn’t be doing that, there is no life on the dole anymore for people, if you’re unemployed you’ve got to go back to work. At six months…" That's a quote from Gordon Brown's run-in with an elderly lady today. And, of course, it's gone unremarked. New Deal - Flexible New Deal
piloted on the youth unemployed (18-24 year olds), the New Deal programmes have now been expanded to include many different groups. These include:[1]
• New Deal for Young People (NDYP ) – has received by far the greatest proportion of New Deal funding (£3.15 billion through to 2002 ). It is targeted to unemployed youth (aged 18–24) who have been unemployed for 6 months or longer.
• New Deal 25+ – is targeted to adults (aged 25+) who have been unemployed for eighteen
Jobcentre Plus - Flexible New Deal
provides resources to enable unemployed people to find work via the Government's Directgov website (they closed the Jobcentre Plus search on 30/03/2010) and the Jobpoints , and also a system for employers to advertise job vacancies called Labour Market System (or LMS for short).
They also offer a service called Jobseeker Direct for the unemployed where they can find out job vacancies (for example if they don’t have internet access) and also to find out details of a certain range of jobs
