I have noticed though most inmates on New Deal wont back you up for the following reasons:
a) Even though New Dealers will be friendly once you get to know them most are on a survival routine of “keep your head down” get on with it and finish the course
b) 6 month sanctions… Ok, the maximum is 2 weeks on New Deal (on Flexible New Deal will rise to 6

potentially paying placement? Nonsense!
There is capability of payment but its extremely rare.
Its probably a New Deal / Work Trial combined where Jobcentre Plus pays the employer to pay you an allowance (generous but not NMW – which being on New Deal you are exempt from apparently).
Strangely on its own New Deal and Work Trial individually are unpaid.

Not too bad on New Deal, the worse they can do is exit you for “not actively participating” if not meeting job targets.
On Flexible New Deal they can sanction you for not applying for a single job.

You are lucky you have a placement. Even if the placement was boring it is better then doing 30 hours a week in a detention centre such as Dencora House.
