Are you sure he understands the New Deal scheme? Are you sure this is what’s happening?” to which the continual answer was “Oh yes,

victim to the same sort of fraud and had to be scrapped. The article says that Yvette Cooper, the new DWP secretary, has said that the multi-million pound contracts could be cancelled if widespread fraud is discovered. Don't hold your breath. Tonight Channel 4 news carried a report which will dent A4e's image even further: The piece sets out to show that fraud is common in the new Deal programmes, but that the DWP doesn't publish the results of its investigations so it's
Labour introduced New Deal. This focussed first on young people, and offered a much more structured approach to training and support for the unemployed. It was followed by New Deal 25+. Private companies were central, naturally. New Deal was about genuine training, and private companies of various kinds - FE colleges, industry training bodies and specialist organisations - were best placed to deliver that training. But it was Jobcentre Plus which organised this and issued the

their multiple billion fraud along with New Deal providers.
The National Audit Office says that £800m was lost to fraud last year. An equal amount was lost due to DWP staff via error… thats a lot of errors considering a single fixed amount for a benefit week is between £45 (at the time) and just over £100.
On the other side… as my blog post below states.. DWP underpaid by £1.2 Billion… hmm I wonder why.
