of which only196,000 are JCP advertised, over 30 hours per week (static)- the ones we are mainly interested in. BUT CAN WE TRUST THESE FIGURES? Two issues straight away. Firstly, the last figure, for vacancies advertised with JCP of over 30 hours per week - the figure used to refer to vacancies with JCP of over 16 hours per week. I'm not saying this is a bad thing of itself, maybe someone's finally decided to be realistic, but it does prevent us comparing like for like. Secondly, this

budget was allocated to each JCP region and it was the JCP region which decided how to allocate the funding. Programmes ranged in length from 6 weeks to 52 weeks. The providers could interview prospective clients and take on only those who were willing and able to benefit from the course. Clients then undertook vocational courses such as NVQs while doing a real work placement. Providers were rigorously audited, and payment was on the basis of weeks on the programme, qualifications gained
European money, working with JCP - and A4e. (Just how much involvement A4e will have isn't clear.) Then there are the Regional Development Agencies. These have often come under fire for being very expensive quangos soaking up money that should be going into development and regeneration, and the Conservatives have made noises about abolishing them. The NWDA, operating in the North West, has been more criticised than most. At the end of last year it was revealed that it had spent

already realised, the JCP are quite appauling at explaining any process to any of their customers. I'm coming up to the end of my last week of working at A4e and every course I have delivered, at least 70% of the customers do not know why they are attending. Busy or not, they should explain this. It's crazy

more isn’t done by the JCP to provide people with retail experience, say through offering work for a few hours a week, or as a form of internship in the manner that you described. However, I do think that many opportunities for similar ideas just aren’t advertised, and have heard that paid work for only a few hours in a shop environment (say, less than 12 hours a week), for experience often isn’t advertised by the dole office, so few people know about it.

Jobcentre Plus is an executive agency of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) which acts as both a social security office and an employment agency.
Did you know under DWP/JCP policy you are supposed to get a “Taster” session of the provision before you get signed on to the course?
Then if it isn’t suitable – and you have a good enough reason – you don’t have to go on it.
Having a reason afterwards isn’t good enough (under JCP rules) which then compromise your benefit. I know why you don’t get the taster opportunity in Ipswich or maybe just my New Deal adviser?

as you were dismissed but JCP and YMCA decided a U-Turn was in order to prevent the problems (for obvious reasons) then they should have reopened your claim.
I personally would have demanded that meeting and as a “customer” of JCP, stuck them under pressure about why they allowed you to be exited. They can NOT dismiss you for misconduct for something you said on a blog before being on the course that has been distorted out of context. If you were acting up, showing agression

Feedback has it that Jobcentre Plus is trying to push as many people through on to New Deal courses as possible regardless of the actual legal implications of them being unable to put through a lot of them – they are still hoping to catch people out who are unaware of the

to some people. The current JCP is not fit for purpose as the ecomonic climate has seen a change in the customer group, the UK employer market has changed dramatically, the government have to look at encouraging businesses to grow and develop, capacity build not make things harder by raising VAT again, raising business rates etc...help the unemployed by firstly creating opportunities for businesses which in return will require staff, etc....yes train people but train them for jobs that the
