From 2000 to April 2004, there were 193,300 sanctions making a rough figure of 48,325 sanctions per year . After April 2004 (up until April 2009) there were 486,520 sanctions making a rough figure of 121,630 per year .
This is an increase of 60% in sanctions .

are claiming unemployment benefit. Some say that New Deal was designed with this in mind, to allow the Government to release lower figures for unemployment. However the NDYP has led to a considerable decrease in JSA claims for 18-24 year olds.
Statistics of NDYP states that almost 1 in 3 people on NDYP leave benefits without securing a job or receiving education or training. 42.89% went in to employment (no mention of sustainability), 25.84% stayed on benefits and 31.27% never reclaimed

One thing about these sanctions that I’m curious about is what would happen if after getting a job whilst on FND I turned around and forced them to kick me off the course for turning up drunk or something? Does anyone know if they would still get their 60% payment from the government?

It is all on a contractual 12 month course plus a few weeks period afterwards.
